Here’s a repost of a video posted on Eteinia’s blog that features our very own Mauikai. You can find the whole story over at Eternia’s Blog. Here is an excerpt.
The moment with Mauikai on the street in Queens, performing for neighbors, friends, & kids on the block, was pure magic captured on video. I don’t know if you can sense that from the footage, but it was literally 100% unplanned and Robert (he says: “tell them my name is ROBERTO!”) cried real crocodile tears. Which is bugged, considering he’s known as the tough guy on the block. What a testament to the power of MUSIC to MOVE people and make us all FEEL. So beautiful. If you don’t know who Mauikai is, or what she’s been up to, Peep Game: http://www.Myspace.com/Mauikai. She’s a beautiful sister w/ a powerful voice, working diligently.

It’s been awhile since the Orlando Magic have made it to the NBA finals (’95 to be exact). This city is surging with excitement unlike I’ve ever witnessed. If you were on the streets after game 6 the other night then you know what I’m talking about. Here’s a little jam created by Swam to help spread the blue and white flames even farther.

Kaleigh Baker has an incredible voice and great spirit. Check out her track on the recent 2nd Sub release, Recess! Comp CD. For those of you who were lucky enough to be at the Cd release party you got to see her perform a set that included a few songs with fellow members of the all women singing group Ohm and a powerful set with Florida’s own eclectic, jazz, and funk groove ensemble, Shak Nasti. The photo shows Kaleigh getting into it backed by guitarist Tim Turner.

This is the first track off S.K.I.P.’s second installment in the Peanut Butter & Ramen Collection. Growing Pains was mixed by Divinci and produced by Blockhead. Listen and enjoy.

Here’s a little sample of what’s to come from us ladies and fellas over here at Second Subject Recordings. This banger is from the mind of Swamburger and the fingertips of DJ SPS. Swam made the beat using a MPC and then DJ SPS stopped in to the Milk District lab to lay his scratch down just before heading over to Europe for a slew of shows. Look for him in Switzerland for the next few weeks including an April 26th show with another member of the 2nd Sub Crew, Mauikai, at the Mombosa Island Bar, in Lausanne, Switzerland.
